We have finished CableNut 3.5 and are proud to announce its release! This version adds tweaks for DSL, 56K modem and fast cable users, a stronger universal uninstall, and more accurately tuned settings.
Fast or Normal?
You have two options when installing the cable settings. Fast uses a bigger RWIN than Normal.
- Fast Cable: connections that can download faster than 4,000 kbit/s (500 KB/s).
- Normal Cable: connections up to 4,000 kbit/s.
Where are the settings?
On Windows 95/98/ME, CableNut 3.5 writes to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP and the Class\NetTrans keys. On Windows 2000 it uses HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters and …\AFD\Parameters.
Installing and uninstalling
Pick an install option and click Next: CableNut removes all older tweak settings and writes its own, so don’t mix it with other patches. To undo everything, use Add/Remove Programs or run uninst-cablenut.exe from the CableNut folder on your desktop. Windows goes back to its defaults.
